Heather Hall Mrs. Lakeland

My Story

Hi my name is Heather Hall and I am proud to be Mrs. Lakeland 2009. I am a happily married to my wonderful husband Joe and the proud mother of three great kids Bailee, Brody and Ella.

I am excited to be competing in the Mrs. Minnesota America pageant in June, however competing in this years pageant was not an easy decision for me. Let me explain why... two major influences in my life were both of my Grandmothers. One was Charlotte and the other Beverly. They both encouraged me in pageants as a young miss and had so much fun cheering me on. I was not raised with a lot of money or access to the very glamourous dresses you see in the pageant world , but I did have a creative grandma that loved to sew, my Grandma Bev! Together we spent hours fussing with fabrics, flipping through magazines for ideas and hand gluing rhinestones to everything I wore on stage. Keep in mind this was in 1987 so everything was done by hand. And every step of the way we laughed. I won several state titles in those homemade dresses and even one national title! She was so proud. As my life went on I left the pageant world behind for high school, then a modeling career, next marriage and of course motherhood. All a long though Grandma Bev kept asking " Do you think you would ever compete again?" I had many excuses of why I was too busy for more pageants, but still spent a lot of time with my two Grandmothers. For the last several years she asked if I would do the Mrs. Minnesota pageant. My Grandma Bev became very ill last spring, we talked about me competing in the 2008 pageant but as her health failed it just didn't seem like the right time. She passed away last summer without seeing me compete again. I decided to compete this year in her memory, and I couldn't be more excited!

I also started my senior citizen companionship program called Linking Lifetimes in memory of both of my very special Grandmas. I wouldn't be the woman I am today without the influence and guidance they gave me, and I hope through Linking Lifetimes other kids will have the same opportunity.
